first chick hatch question

we just had our first chick to hatch this afternoon.4:00 ET +\\- it still has a part of the shell attached to its backside 3.5 hrs later ,should i just let it work it out?if so how long should i allow before i remove it?

Pictures would help. I had a chick hatch with her shell still attached by a blood vessel and it came off by itself. Of course, your chick's situation may be different.

I would just leave it...should fall off after everything dries off..if not , when you move the chick to the brooder soak it ( where the shell is attached) with a warm wet cotton ball and you should be able to get it off no problems...
