My black sex link brown leghorn mix just hatched (super adorable!!!)! He is going crazy in the incubator, knocking around other eggs, running around, peeping, and flapping his wings! Is this normal? I am worried he is disturbing the chicks that have not hatched. None of the other eggs even zipped yet, but lots of them pipped. The chick will rest for a second but then start up again. What should I do? Again, is this normal?

He’s a cutie- I thought he had an eggshell on his head in the first pic 😂

Sometimes they can help encourage each other to come out. You can leave him in there as long as he’s not pecking at the other eggs or rolling them around too badly, but you can move him to a brooder if it’s ready and warm. Warmth is the most important thing- you don’t want him to get too cold :)

Turn off the lights and make the room dark and quiet. That always seems to help. What is the humidity right now? You can get a mist bottle and mist all the eggs with warm water while you remove him. I do this all the time and I've never had a shrink-wrapped chick.

He is calmer now. Its just whenever I walk in front of the incubator he goes crazy
