First Chicken Order is Pending -- I'm SCARED!

Well, we are practically neighbors. We are in Osteen.

I'm going to "marry" the run and coop into one unit. I've got to do quite a bit of repair work on the dog run but I plan to attach it to the coop. I also PLAN on letting the chicken run in the yard during the late PM.

I have two outside dogs. They go up on chains at night because they dig too much. I'm seriously thinking about relocating there houses nearer the chicken coop.

Anyone ever done this to keep away the varmints?

Hey Salt

Welcome! Congratulations on your coming chicks. Don't worry, we've all been there thinking we've overdone it, then................you become addicted...............then.........you order more chicks............then you buy an incubator...........then you hatch your own................then.........pretty soon your selling us some fertile eggs.

You'll be great! I started last year with Barred Rocks and Leghorns and I'm selling fertile eggs now. I also ordered silkie eggs this year from Maria on the board. I have 13 silkies right now, and I'm biting my toenails as the other 20 are supposed to hatch today. So see....we have all been there, and now we are further there and you will be too. Ask away, any questions you have, I or someone else on here will help you or find the answer for you. Again WELCOME~

I must say, It's always nice to find someone close to you that has the same interest as you do. Hope you 2 become good neighbors. Swapping and Bartering.

Ya, Id probably move the dogs closer. That will keep problem critters away. Even if I could get our dogs to stay outside, they are pretty much worthless

Biscuit is about 5lbs, hes treed a coon getting into my coop. Champ, the 100lb Lab stood on the porch with his tail between his legs.

Im thinking that the two together, along with some free ranging (with cuts down on feed cost too btw) they will be fine in your coop
