BTW: my netting has been working great. The chickens stay IN THE YARD and away from the dogs. I'm getting my system dialed in... Next up: when will the chickens start to lay?? It should be soon. I am very curious to see if they will use my fancy roll-away nesting box. I did a bit of surgery on my roosting bars to avoid the chickens pooping on the rail for the nesting box. That may help.

Also, the nipples can get stuck and dribble out for hours.

Doesn't take much of a piece of grit to stick the valve open.

Fascinating thread! The electronics went over my head, but still interesting. I don't qualify as a tinkerer, much less an engineer. In another life, I designed plastic injection molds (mostly car interior trim), and that was by far the most interesting job I ever had.

I want all things mechanical to turn on, and off, and work, with no tinkering by me!
Time to lock the chickies in for the night. Longer days coming!
