First coop introduction

Very nice recycle!
Did you install a predator apron around the base to prevent digging predators?
Do you have a heavy duty tarp you can secure over the top for rain protection?

Yes there is a 2foot apron all the way around the whole unit I just covered it with mulch for appearance. I have tarps but the coop is waterproof are you thinking for the run?

Yes. I meant "run" when I wrote the sentence but never included the word!
You can leave the pop door open between the coop and run year round with that set up. I do in mine as I too have a predator proof run attached to my coop. It helps greatly with bird health and ease of maintenance.
Another good reason to cover the roof is so you can leave the food and water out in the run.

I too, leave my doors to the runs open, and food and water in the runs. I agree with @DobieLover it makes maintenance so much easier, and the birds are healthier and happier.
