My mother and I have been on a long, crazy adventure in building our first coop and we have finally finished! It took us about 3 months to build due to sickness, weather, work, and budget but we finally are done and our girls are very happy with the finished work!

View walking up to the coop.

An egg that was laid while we were working.

The entire top is covered in this hard plastic netting that is surprisingly VERY sturdy.

I was unsure about this ladder but the ladies took to it just fine!

The coop as seen from my front porch. You can also see the power cord, lumber, and what not still laying about from work on the second coop.

And outdoor roosting bar that the younger ones and older ones all seem to love.

Shaded area that will eventually be a sand bar.

Congratulations on getting your coop done. Nice job of re-purposing the netting and the skids, like the skid ramp idea. If your girls are kicking the nesting material out of the boxes, you might try putting higher front edges on them, really helps with mine.

Thanks both of you! And no, the girls are good with the nesting boxes. That mess was from me changing out the hay lol.

Nice job on the coop.
