So my Silver Laced Cochin Bantam roo (the one thats for sure a roo and always has been) just tried to crow. I thought maybe after the first 25 times, he'd start to get it, but no. He has no clue what he's supposed to do. I have my Delaware roo and Black Rosecomb roo in the coop next to him, so Im hoping he'll catch on. But, for now its the most God-awful sound I've ever heard! lol And.....it only lasts for like 1-1.5 seconds....if that. Theres no ending or middle, just a nice rough start! haha

Dont worry...I got embarrassed for him so he didnt have to feel bad.

I have an extremely ugly EE roo "Spotty" that was hatched on 9/11/2008 that can't seem to crow.

I am praying it's a genetic defect and that I'll be able to pass the gene on.

But I wonder if the "ugly gene" is somehow connected with the lack of ability to crow gene?

Shucks, I don't even know if he's fertile yet as only one of the 22 hens will squat for him.

lol....pm me a pic of him if youve got it haha....i wanna check this out. He may just be a late crower. This guy is the same age as yours and I just heard this for the first time today. I think its because it was nice out for once. Its been like an ice/snow storm here for the past 3 weeks and today is was like 50 or something and tomorrow were due for another snow storm lol...so I dont know what your weathers like, but maybe that can have an effect on these late crowers. lol

im gonna try and remember a tape recorder lol....its hilarious....poor guy, sounded to me like he needed some water or something lol

Their first crows are the funniest, make you fall down funny.

DS calls oegb roo cough drop, sounds like he needs one.

I have a silkie roo (I think roo) that making some sort of weird noise that all I can figure has to be the beginning of a crow. Sounds like scratchy garble for a second. Your like, what is that mess about? Try later little buddy before you hurt yourself.

Adopted a roo yesterday, about the same age as yours. Man I wish he had been a late crower, atleast not an all night long under my bedroom window crower. Gotta move that pen today.
