My chicks are growing so fast. So fast in fact now I have to start taking them outside so they can stretch their wings and get a little more space until I can guarantee that the inside of the coop will stay relatively cool until I get the run done. They were frightened at first to be outside but after a little bit they started to explore and had some fun.

Cute, so you almost have to coop done?
Their home IS done, but because of how hot it is up here I have to monitor the inside of the coop to make sure that it is not going to roast them. I am in the process of designing the layout of their yard/run and am going to be building it over the next few weeks.

Wow, your chickens are beautiful. Do you know what breeds they are or how old they are? I have two Black Australorps whose age I'm not sure of, one red sex link who is 12 /13 weeks and two I haven't been able to identify but are the same age as my sex link.
They look very happy to be outside! Mine love to roll in the dirt and one even got a worm today while digging about. It was pretty gross watching her swallow it. I was very disgusted.

I love Buff Orpingtons. They're very pretty birds. I would like to have a few of my own considering how beautiful they are!

I just wish I knew which ones are going to be roosters. A few of them have some gusto and brawn to them and aren't afraid of much

My three are twelve weeks and I'm still not sure about the gender. I'm positive they're all hens. I haven't heard any crowing, or attempts to crow, and they aren't trying to breed yet.

Good luck with your chicks, though. I hope you get what you want!

I read somewhere that if you drop a hat/light book near them and whichever ones scutter away are hens and the ones who stand their ground are roosters. Hopefully this helps!

They are very cute! I have 4 Buff Orpingtons and I would say yours looked like mine did at that age and are pullets. I have read that Silkies (I have three) can take up to a year to mature. Ugh! I don't know about the rest. Did you purchase the as pullets or straight run?

In my short experience, these kinds of chicks do fine in the heat if you have proper air flow in your coop. They are probably fine in there but definitely give them that outdoor time. I know my chickens all love it, even the Cornish X!
