First Day with Chicks

I have to take the waterer and the feeder out of the brooder to clean it out. In fact I have to take the chicks out as well. When its cleaned out they all go back in. I think this is whatflewthe coop meant.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant I removed everything from the brooder ---- chicks, food, water, etc. in order to clean it ---- about 30 minutes or so, and then put it all back. They do have access to food and water full time---just maybe not when I'm cleaning. I was worried that removing the chicks to a temporary box while I clean the brooder might be stressing them.

Mine dont like it much but they enjoy a nice clean home more than the stress it seems.

You aren't supposed to use cedar chips! They are highly aromatic and cause respiratory problems. Pine shavings are the safest.
