First dose of Zimectrin Gold for tape worms. She shook part of the dose out after I administered it.

I gave the first dose of Zimectrin gold to my 6+ month old Black Australorp yesterday. She weighs 4.2 lbs. Just after I gave her the first dose she shook her head and shook out some of the dosage. What would be the proper recourse? Just wait and give the second dose or? I have have treated several birds successfully before but have not had this happen! I did see some poop with live segments in it a couple hours later. I am pretty sure she is the only one with tapes right now. If it was her poop would the segments still be alive two hours after dosing? I`m afraid she did not get enough of the wormer.

Go ahead and give her the normal dose again to her since you're seeing live segments in her feces.
After dosing, it's entirely possible to see excreted segments and/or the tapeworm itself excreted in broken up pieces and/or strands that look like jellyfish tentacles in the feces. Sometimes you dont see the tapeworm pieces at all. Repeat a second dose in 10-14 days.

How are you dosing? Is this a product you can administer with a syringe? If so, see the graphic below and be sure to get it down the gullet to the side of the throat. If it gets in the windpipe at the back of the throat she will surely shake it out as otherwise she will aspirate it.

Thanks dawg53! That is about what I figured should be done I just wanted to be sure! Especially from someone who has as much experience as you!

I am dosing with a syringe. It is the about the thickness of tooth paste maybe a little thinner. I have always had good luck just putting it at the front of the mouth then they just eat it like anything else. Which is how I administered it to her. I may have to try the described method. Thanks!
