First Duck Eggs!

Thanks everyone! I hadn't been on egg watch because I didn't think they'd lay eggs this year... imagine my surprise (and joy) to look in the duck house and find eggs! Now if one could go broody...... :D

Congratulations -- that's exciting!!

It's funny to hear of a first egg, when I think mine (Muscovies) are done for the year.

Thanks, Mum. That means a lot to me, since I am so new to the duck world, and was so disappointed with my KC drakes.

And today's egg was quite a bit larger, and I was wondering how many 'pullet eggs' to expect.

I'm thinking about keeping them penned up more to see if they will learn to eat the healthy feed instead of the constant digging in dirt and mud. I am adding some pulled dandelions and other greens. Besides they found their way into my little wooded area which is not yet fenced off from the road. I am so fond of these two rescued duckpeople.
