yesterday, my 19 week old easter egger, Ethel, laid her first egg.
this is super exciting to us because this is our first flock & our first egg!
i was giddy like a little kid.
though my camera couldn't capture it perfectly...it's the most lovely shade of green.
(the brown & white eggs are faux eggs that were left in the nesting boxes as hints)

Hey there everyone!!
So one of my EE girls gave me my first chicken egg this morning

it's so small and round and way more blue than I thought they would give! They haven't been doing any squatting & I haven't heard any egg songs :/ so to say the least -what an excellent gift today has brought!!!
here is a photo of my girls from a couple weeks ago & the egg next to a large store bought

that's fantastic!
my EEs started laying early (at about 19 weeks)
and my production reds just started laying last week (23 weeks)
and now we're waiting on our barred rock...she's the slacker of the bunch...(she's 24 weeks and still nothing!)

here is a shot of our color collection with the girls that are laying as of now...

our 3 EEs lay very different colors...
pale blue, minty/pale sage and olive.
our girls laid smallish first eggs...but nothing tiny like what you have...(which is SO cute!)
now they're all laying fairly large eggs!
congrats again on your first blue egg!

WOW look at those gorgeous eggs!! I know
i still have a hard time believing all these small eggs are coming from my ladies. I have 3 cayuga ducks & only one girl is laying a normal sized egg, the rest are laying eggs just a bit bigger than my"baby" EE egg. Can't wait to have a colorful clutch like that!
