My 4 girls are 26 weeks today and one of them laid her first egg! :wee:ya:celebrate

It's been fun to see the other posts about first eggs and to see the big, beautiful, perfect eggs. Ours is very small and has white specks on one end. Of course, me being new to chickens, I'm now worrying that something is wrong in her diet. Does this look like something I should be worried about?

Nope. Beautiful, normal egg. Esp for a new layer. They can lay all sorts of interestings eggs when their system is kicking into gear. Dont expect her to lay every day either, at least not yet. Make sure she has access to oyster shells for calcium. One of my silver laced wyandottes gives me a speckled egg every time she lays. Perfectly normal

Thank you! I was thinking that was probably the case. They have oyster shells and layer pellets that they have access to all day. They free range most days and don't really eat much of either. They seem to know what to do on their own so I've been trusting that they know what they need more than I do. I just try to make sure they have a variety to choose from and get out of their way! :D
