ok thank you so much.

I have one hen that has picked a bunch of hay next to the nest boxes to sit on at night instead of roasting this was the third night and she has a redder comb and waddles she is a golden comet and was hatched the week befor easter. She is also letting my hubby let her, not pick her up, he doesnt do anything with them but built the coop. Could she be getting ready? I check for eggs every hour just about. But she is stiill with the flock during the day. Hiw long do you think I have yet? Thanks

There is a good chance that she will lay within a week unless she's just hiding cause she's being picked on.

no she is deff not hiding, flock leader is between her and one of my aneracaunas. The two pal around together and chase the dogs and squerrils and anything else they can control. Very funny to watch. The last one on the totem pole is my silver laced wyandotte, everyone picks on that poor girl. She lost her tail feathers. I do not know how to build her confidense but atleast they do not chase her from food or water so thats a plus.
