I just went out to gather eggs and noticed there was a piece of egg shell in my broody banty RIR nest so I checked and there is a beautiful black chick looking alert and lively under her. She has been sitting on 6 eggs checked them the other night and 3 were bad but 3 looked viable, I'm so excited I have a baby. Can/ should I bring it in? Will it upset the rest of the hatching (if they hatch), will it upset momma too much? Thanks for any help

Put a LARGE dog crate in the coop filled it with clean shavings put wood up around put in a heat lamp and moved momma, baby and 2 remaining eggs into it. Momma started eating and drinking and seemed right at home. Was worried since my nest boxes were so high. Thanks for the advice.

How does mama get the little ones down from the nexting boxes? My boxes are 2 feet up and I'm wondering if I should move them down closer to the floor. I would hate to have someone jump or get pushed...

Momma and baby are doing well in the crate on the floor and the nest boxes will be lowered this weekend for all the other girls. I'm waiting for the other 2 eggs and hope they hatch within a day or two.
