Second egg; first one was laid on top of the nesting box and rolled off and cracked. This morning I found one right where it should be! I put a hard boiled egg in the nesting box yesterday. Yahoo! Does this mean my other 5 are nearing lay too; they are all the same age; 6 mos; 3 RIR, 3 Wyandotte and I Wyandotte rooster. Thanks to all that helped me figure out what to do.

It's great to get that first egg...especially once they use the box:)

I had an EE that began laying at 21 weeks but on on the coop floor. Her same age sisters did not begin to lay until 26 weeks, and the next age group started at the same time (when they were 21 weeks) These chickens started using the nesting boxes from day one, and it wasn't two days (and eggs) later that my original layer started using the box. Case of monkey see monkey do! You'll get eggs soon...but it could be a couple of weeks for them all to get on board.
