First egg! Need Help!

Hi All,

New here and need some advice. One of our chicks just laid her first egg! We weren't expecting it this early so we don't even have the nesting boxes setup yet. I found the egg on the floor of the run, is it safe to eat? There is quite a bit of feces on the floor of the run. We're hoping to get the nesting box installed within the next few days.

Yes, the egg is perfectly safe to eat, but i would wash it off so you don't get feces in it when you crack it open.

And congrats on your first egg!!! It is so exciting to get the first one!

you welcome Years later after starting to keep birds for eggs and its still exciting to find eggs everyday, lol
