I think our little EE bantam hen decided to celebrate the Fourth of July by laying her first egg. Im pretty sure it's hers, but it was layer in the nest with our BR eggs. So maybe it's a fairy egg? I can't bring myself to crack it open to see if there is a yolk. Lol. It's such a pretty little white/tan egg. (Hadn't wiped it off when I took the pic. It's raining her and the egg had muddy spots from their feet.

Beside a BR egg for comparison.

I think it is to big to be a fairy egg. I bet it is a first egg.
I think it is, too. And I'm pretty sure it's from our EE. She turned 6 months this month. Our other bantam hen is too small to lay this size egg. I was really expecting a colored egg, but I'm not upset since it's so cute and we have 10 standard EE pullets in the brooder.

Just out of curiosity does the suspected new layer have a single comb or is it a true pea comb.
I read somewhere that the single comb on an EE means it is less likely to give a colored egg and more likely to give a brown egg. I have a very pretty silver duckwing EE that is not yet laying and has a single comb.
The suspense is killing me with that one.

I think she is a single comb. She almost doesn't have a comb, it's so close to her head. I think our EE bantam roo has either a pea comb or rose comb.

This is our sweet EE girl.

And this is the chicken devil, I mean our EE roo.

That looks like a pea comb to my eye.
I think she is a pretty gal. She has such a lovely color to her.
Why is the roo a chicken devil??? LOL I think I know (rooster = mean) perhaps.

He hates me. Me in particular for some reason. He couldn't care less about anyone else being near him, but he stalks and flogs me. She on the other hand is the sweetest little thing. She likes to get up on the roost where she can be beside me and she left the flock when we got another juvenille bantam so that she could let the young one sleep with her without the older birds picking on it.
