I have 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 Black Sex-Link, and 2 Easter Chickens. We finally got our first egg!!!

My chickens are 20 weeks and 1 day. I am not sure which chicken it came from. It was a brown egg so it was either the RI or Sex-Link. The comb and wattles on the RI are redder and softer the the Sex-Link so I think it came from her. It was so exciting. I have been checking the coop everyday for the past 3 weeks and nothing!!! It was my son who discovered the egg!!!

I am hoping we get at least 1 egg everyday starting now.

We got our first egg on Sunday evening and haven't gotten anymore as of right now, Tueaday morning. How often should I get eggs?

If your hens are just starting it could be only once a week for the first couple of weeks. Also, if they free range check all bushes and shrubs. I've had some start slow with one a week, then progress upwards. Although I have had a red sex link hen start and layed every other day the first couple of weeks then went to almost everyday. Your Rhode Island and black sex link should be laying several each week in a month or so after starting. My EE's have been slow to start and usually lay every other day. I would say with all your girls laying regular you should have a dozen+ eggs each week.

Happy chickening.
