we got our first egg yesterday from our 5 wyandottes....the eggs are supposed to be large...ours was tiny! smaller than the small eggs in the grocery store! is this normal for first layers? and will it get bigger as time goes on? what can we expect , all you egg experts!?!?!

Yep, it's very much normal. It's called a pullet egg and most chickens start laying full sized eggs within a month or so. Their eggs actually typically continue to grow in size somewhat throughout their life (my 2yo chickens lay HUGE eggs).

You're also likely to get some funky eggs while the new layers are getting everything straightened out. You may get some double yolkers, some without a shell, or any other combination of strange things. It's all normal. Enjoy your eggs!!
