First egg soft shelled days ago then nothing

FWIW, it seems that eating soft- or no-shelled eggs isn't a predictor of future egg-eating. They're just curious objects that fall out of them.

My EE was the first to start laying with several early misfires, and I found the remains of a no-shell egg that they had all pecked at.

But there has never been any evidence among mine of true egg-eating, meaning shelled eggs.

Thank you! That’s reassuring. Their coop and run is fairly small as they are out in the yard all day but maybe I’ll keep them in there a few extra hours in the morning until she starts laying in there. Although I don’t mind the mess of the soft egg not being in the coop lol.

Honestly, I’m pretty surprised that you even got an egg at 19 weeks!
My EE’s and Americanas don’t usually start until at least 6 months.
Also, Easter Eggers only lay like 3 eggs a week, so don’t be too worried about the gaps between eggs.

Don’t worry about her eating her eggs. Once they have hard shells, that should be enough to deter her.

Best of luck to you!

And my EE is a daily layer. They're all so different!

Apparently you never know what you’re going to get with Easter eggers! I’ve always heard they start late so I’m also shocked she’s started laying already! Hopefully she gets regulated soon… I’m dying to see what color she’s going to give us. One of my kids said inside her ears are light green… I haven’t checked, but don’t know if there’s any truth to that or not!
