Officially got our first egg! The girls are 18 weeks now and definitely surprised us with this little egg 😍 we have been noticing the girls getting redder, and some have started squatting when we walked by so we knew they were getting closer. We were actually just starting to worry about the absolute lack of interest in the nesting boxes as they refused to go near them. We even just recently put golf balls in after reading it could help. I was outside with the chickens today and noticed a box looked shuffled and got excited to see they showed interest finally. I was not expecting to see an egg as well, I’m kinda in disbelief! Lol Now to figure out which of my girls it came from since I’ve seen no one in a nesting box.

and surprise egg number two 😍 I’ve been outside today so got to see which girl layed today. I also got to watch and sweet and attentive my Roo was.
How wonderful and exciting.

Our Sapphire Gem lays that color egg, greenish. We have 5 pullets that are close at 16 weeks but I'm hoping they begin by 20 weeks.

Two wonderful little eggs! Congratulations!
Very fun colors and speckles, too!

(In case it's needed for future, sometimes the eggs go a little wonky especially with first layers. Perfectly fine to be concerned and to ask questions! Also, the speckles might change. Some aren't consistent with adding speckles or dark brown. Any concerns, people will be there to answer~)

Our greenish egg was from our sapphire sky. We got a brown yesterday I think might be from our Plymouth blue but we don’t know! Lol. I have been reading everyone’s first egg posts seeing what they all look like lol It’s so exciting! I thought we still had awhile. Hopefully your girls surprise you soon

They really are so perfect, I was super excited to see the colors and speckles.
I appreciate the info! We are definitely learning as we go so I am sure I’ll have so many questions and concerns as time goes on. I stay in the search bar looking stuff up 🤣🙈.
