Well my almost 19 week old white leghorn gave me the first egg of my flock of 7 today! I had been out with them earlier in the day and she was in a state, like she was looking for something.. I put her in the nest box a couple of times and she actually let me pick her up, and she is flighty. I was not surprised when I found a small white egg when I checked a couple hours later! So there it sets, all 38 grams of goodness in the egg spiral thing my kids bought me for xmas, now we need a couple more.... I think my light brown leghorn will be next followed by red sex link then who knows who.

Yes, no bedding just the dense carpet you see in the pic. I was able to put the fake eggs in if I set them just so without rolling out, they get moved and roll out and I put them back all the time. The little white egg did not quite roll out, at 38 grams it just was not heavy enough!

I did not get an egg yesterday, so I had a talk with the girls and explained that the rent needs to be paid one way or another....

Give them time, they can be slow to get things really rolling hahaha!

Been pondering fake eggs in rollouts, wonder if you could cut a fakie in half.
Would still work as bait and it would stay put.
Sometimes I think too much.
Actually a rock would work as bait.
