I came home from a 4 day trip & found my first pullet egg of a color I was not expecting. It is very dark brown. My 10 new birds are supposedly 4 Crested Cream Legbars, 4 Blue Australorps (1 is a roo) & 2 EE. None of my 4 Legbars have a crest. 2 Turned spotted and look similar to what I would think a hatchery Legbar would look. One molted to slightly spotted & one is shown below. looking like a Welsummer. I had Welsummers a few years ago, but never got such a dark egg. These chicks are probably from Privett Hatchery through my feed store. They will be 20 weeks on Wednesday. First chicken is one that I believe looks like a Legbar sans crest & the 2nd is the one I believe laid the egg pictured. I think the Legbar colored one looks slightly round for a Legbar. Any insight would be helpful. I just want eggs, LOL.

I believe I got Welbars instead of Cream Crested Legbars. I believe both were on the list, but I don't know if they were listed for the same week. At least 3 of the 4 look like the Welbar pictures which happen to be a bit chunkier than Legbars. That would explain the chocolate egg & no crests, LOL! Sad that I won't have the neat blue eggs, but the dark brown is nice also. I have 2 EEs that may lay a green or blue egg! Thanks.
