Yesterday I was delighted to find a $2000 egg in the coop on the floor in the corner. Of course she didn't use the egg boxes. Today nothing.
There are four 26 week old Golden Penciled Hamburgs. One of them laid the egg. There are two 22 week old Golden Cuckoo Marans, but they will lay dark eggs and this one was smallish and white = hamburg.

So if one of the hamburgs is laying, I'm hoping all hamburgs are getting close. How far apart will the first eggs be usually? And what do I need to do to get them to use the egg boxes?
I have pine shavings and a golf ball in there.

thanks for your advice

When my barred rocks started, it was and egg every other day for a week or so. My Hamburg still is not laying and she's 21 weeks. I can't wait to see her egg. Do you have a picture of yours? How big is it?

Not in my camera, in a friends. So can't post it.
It was same size as the egg I hatched her out of, small-medium off white egg.
Only 1 laying at exactly 26 weeks. I hope the other 3 will join her soon.
I spent alot of time out there with them today hoping to hear an egg song. Just alot of 'let me out of the coop' scolding.
