It never gets old.
It’s always exciting!

It takes a while to get into the swing of things.
And the first few eggs aren’t huge usually, but they get bigger over time.

Different breeds have there own rhythm, some are every day layers, some ever other, and everything in between.
You’ll get to know the pattern of each of your own girls in no time!

That’s great! The first eggs always exciting! It’s normal for them to do that when they first start laying, and weather, diet, breed, age, time of year and moulting are all things that effect egg production. It’s common for them to take breaks in between laying eggs when they first start, and even chickens that have been laying eggs for a while, will still do this on occasion.

What breed of chicken do you have? This is a big influence on how many eggs your hen will lay.
 
thanks all! I cant believe how excited I was! Lol! I think I checked the whole run and coop at least 4 times today! The egg actually looked normal sized!
