Congratulations!! Such a simple and natural thing is still a great cause for celebration, isn't it?

One of the Faverolles pullets I raised this spring disappeared yesterday into some foliage and I discovered Celeste hunkered down in the greenery. Turns out it wasn't her first egg; there was another tan egg in the same spot. And, both little eggs were along side a much larger white duck egg. Why do I bother with nest boxes? Sigh.

That first egg is always exciting (and the ones after that are pretty nice too!
