First egg!

Title pretty much says it all. Barred rock pullets hatched on February 9 so 18 weeks. One started squatting a couple weeks ago so I offered some free choice oyster shell, and I’ll switch to layer feed now. I’m trying not to think too much about the dollar per egg ratio.... it will be a long while before this makes any financial sense but it’s been a great learning experience and fun, and I’m sure it will continue to be so. Store bought egg for size comparison:

Yeah when my first chicken laid her first egg, I couldn't have been prouder than if I laid it myself. It's still pretty cool ! CONGRATS!
