First egg!

this was my 1st from the 1st flock

I really don't know. lol I figured if they layed an egg, they would want to hatch it. I definately need to do some reading on it. What triggers their interest in hatching them?

Well, yesterday at 11 am I had to put everyone in their coop run to take my mother to a dr apt. We got home at 5p and I drove around back to the coop to let everyone out for a bit before cooping up for the night.

Well, Pearl was pacing frantically at the gate and when I opened it she ran to the truck (she has ridden around on property with me before ) So, I set her on the passenger seat and drove around front and when we got out she bolted for the door, that was open, ran to my room and into the laundry basket to lay her 2nd egg about half an hour later. It's definately blue this time.

It's too sweet. I Will have to build a coop just for the chickens and hopefully she'll feel more comfortable there, till then she'll have to be in when I'm gone, which is fine, too. I'll be getting more hens soon. Right now Guineas and chickens share the coop and free range all day together. They are very bonded, but other dynamics are changing and putting pressure.

So, untill I can get that done I guess we have ourselves a house hen for a while. She's really sweet to have around. I just want to thank everyone for jumping in to help and advise. And laugh a little .

Yes I was surprised it was such a perfect egg because it was her first
