My first egg ever! It came from my barred rock Milly!

Also a question if Milly wasn’t sitting on the egg does that mean there is no chick inside?
(we also have a rooster that’s been mating with her lately.

Congratulations! You are correct, if the egg isn't being actively incubated no embryo will develop. Barred rocks don't tend to be broody.

Nope, no chick unless you’re keeping the egg at over 95 degrees for an extended period of time.

I recommend blowing the egg out to preserve it. First eggs are special.
