We finally, after picking up a pair of Appenzeller crosses to flesh out our flock a bit, received a first egg! Our other pullets are far too young still (~14 weeks) but our older pair are roughly 18-20 weeks and one of them has decided to finally lay an egg today (and in the box, no training needed, thanks to our foresight to add ceramic fakes- she even decided to lay this beauty right next to the singular green ceramic egg we have, go figure!).
It's obviously fairly small but very healthy! Shell is pristine and a gorgeous green color (somewhat unexpected, was expecting either white or blue, given the AppenzellerxEE roots). Rather pleased with this girlie's first!
Sidenote: spot the dog wanting desperately to photo bomb!
