I'm pretty certain that I've shown more people (including total strangers) pics of our first eggs than pics of my grandsons!No matter the breed...the first egg is so exciting! I have 3 that are laying, but I have 1 baby that should start any day and 3 more by August hopefully!! I can't wait to see their first eggs!! I still excited any day they all lay!
Did you ever figure out which of your girls laid this egg? We just got our first egg today and are playing the who laid game ourselves. Our egg is identical to yours and our chicken (blue Plymouth) looks identical to your sapphire gem. Obviously I wont know until I see who lays what but now I’m wondering if she’s our layer.I’m so excited! I got my very first egg this afternoon from my first ever flock of chickens. Our SG hen lays varying shades of green eggs. I hope our pullets lays the same when she's old enough.Sapphire Gems do lay brown. But a first egg is a joy, regardless of color!

The two on the outside look like my Sapphire OE that I THINK are from Hoovers and they said there is a chance they can lay brown.
