Have had 2 eggs like this! I have 1 Easter egger that is 2 and another that is only 10 weeks old. There are 7 big girls and 7 that are only 10 weeks. They are all free ranging and getting along. The 10 week olds have their own little coop but i found this egg in the nesting box of the big coop where they all will be eventually! Have not seen the 10 week olds in the big coop but they are only about 15 feet away. Isn’t she young for laying an egg? My older hen lays large eggs! 5222F7AA-1784-4F3A-B1A2-DA08A17E29C1.jpeg

That is what they call a fairy egg. It happens when there's only a small portion of yolk, or even no yolk, and the body treats it like a full size yolk and forms the shell around it. Crack it open and it more than likely has mostly egg white inside.

The shell is darker as the same amount of pigment is applied as would be for a full size egg. I see fairy eggs more often when hens are starting to lay again, or taking a break.

Your 10 week old pullets are too young to lay.

Thank you very much for the information. That last one had no yoke! At least i know now. In all these years i have never seen this. I have had backyard chickens for about 12 years now.
