First egg!

I am sooo excited! My button quail layed her first egg today! I am pretty sure it is fertile because i have seen the male mating with her! I wish to incubate the eggs when i get about a dozen and i was wondering how long do quail eggs last before they get to the point where you can't incubate them anymore?

I kept them up to 10 days with no problems-but when we offered the hen a gourd with a hole in the side-she went broody! unfortunately we had seperated her from the male because he was treating her poorly.If I got a pair or trio again-I think I'd try letting mom do it.

Oh ok. Do you know where to get a gourd at??? I'm wondering if Tractor Supply might or if I need to go to a Feed and Seed store?

It is cute to watch the quail! Whenever I sticck my hand in their cage to change their food water, etc or to hold them the male will run to the eggs and guard them!
