First eggs.. And en egg eater- help!

ok, so I got my first two eggs this week! Yay!!!! They must be coming from one of my 3 barred rocks, as my rir girls aren't old enough yet. However, my mom is visiting and peeked in this morning and saw an egg. When I went out to collect it a few hours later, no egg.

So I guess I have an egg eater? Do hens eat the entire egg? I read that I can blow out an egg, fill it w dish soap and food coloring to see who is eating them ... We didn't have any eggs yesterday, so I am suspecting they were also eaten.

Any ideas, thoughts, etc? We don't have nesting boxes yet- don't judge me! Haha. The girls weren't supposed to lay until next week; I was going to go this week but got so side tracked w the toddler and I'm 8 months pregnant ... Excuses I know but I just didn't get to the store to get nesting boxes and our farmer store is closed today. So maybe once I get them in this will stop? =/

I just found I have the same issue.. i had two eggs layed, one in the coop area and one outside from the 5 months olds (I have 8 of them) I quickly unblocked the nesting boxes, and put one of the eggs in there so to point them in the right direction. (I thook the other inside) I just now I went to see if there were anymore, and found just half a shell...

I too would like to know how you tell which one it is...
