First eggs at Cackle Cottage!

We have three Barred Plymouth rocks and 3 Golden Comets. They began laying on January 14th. We've gotten at least one egg each day since, and as many as 4. They are all smaller than grocery store eggs, but sooo much better. How long does it take for them to increase to full size?



The golf ball worked! The large egg was a double yolk!

That yolk colour is fantastic

It can take them up to a month to work out the kinks in their systems and lay normal eggs. During that month you can get everything from tiny yolk less practice eggs to enormous double yolkers. But keep in mind that different breeds lay different size eggs too. Their eggs may end up bigger or smaller than the ones you've been buying.
