Ok, my Chiquita's just turned 19 weeks. 3 or 4 have started laying. There was a soft shelled egg today, which brings me to my question. I offer oyster shell and egg shells. They want no part of it. What else can I do? Also, what are the little red dots in the eggs. I gave my rooster away thinking that would fix it.

Soft shell eggs and even shell less eggs are normal for new layers.
Their body's are just "learning" how to make the egg...
It should stop happening.
Sardines have a good amount of calcium, you could offer them some.

Have you read the label on your feed bag...what feed are you feeding?

Can you post a picture of the egg with the spots.
