Two days ago, our pullets began laying! We got an egg from two of our three Golden Comets (18 weeks old). One contained a double yolk. -really thought nothing of it until today. These two gals gave us two more eggs. -same one layed a double yolk again today. Since we are new to chickens, I was just wondering why this is transpiring. -know it is an anomaly, but not certain if it is no big deal or if we should be concerned. Any information would be helpful/appreciated.

Consistent double yokes to start is interesting, but I would say within normal. When they start laying you can get odd eggs. They should settle down to a normal egg. Then you'll miss the double yokes.

My Wyandotte has been laying eggs with double yolks. She lays every other day and it has been - thus far - almost always double yolked. We rather like it actually, though I wonder when it would stop.
