My ducks started hatching on Easter so they are currently 8 months old. They are 5 Pekins, and 1 Pekin-Runner mix. I'm pretty sure 2 of the 6 are female.

Last night I went out to the Duck coop to unexpectedly find 4 eggs! You could imagine how shocked I was to see them since I didnt expect any until Spring! Now tonight I found one more egg but there could possibly be more buried in the hay.

I live in Illinois and for the past month it has been anywhere from 30 degrees, to below zero. They have an enclosed duck house with hay, and a run that is covered in shrink wrap to keep out the wind and snow. Since it gets so cold here I added a lamp to their little house. It's red and it doesn't give off much heat, it just prevents the hay and poop from freezing like it had been. I just added it so that their feet and bills don't get frostbitten. Could this light bulb be the reason why they started laying in the middle of Winter?
