Hi,
I have been working with a set of shipped eggs and a self made incubator. I need some help knowing if i should continue putting effort into these first eggs that I got. I have had some incubator temp problems, one of which cost me the one egg i know was growing right (see my profile picture). I have not seen any change in these eggs now in 4 or 5 days. I am dealing with duck eggs, Welsh Harliquin, Khaki Cambell, and Cayuga.

The last picture is my current set up. It is a 10 gallon tank with insulation around it, a 150 watt bulb on a dimmer and now an auto cut off switch if it gets to hot.

I could really use any advice on my eggs i can get.

Thanks

What day of incubation are you on?

I'm a little concerned about your setup. With the light shining right on the eggs, they're likely to be a lot hotter directly under it than the other eggs are. So to keep those from overheating the probe from your cutoff switch would need to be right on top of them, but then the eggs at the outer edges would be too cold.

If you have $50, I would recommend you instead pick up an Incukit and install that in this setup. It'll be much more accurate.

I am on day 12 today.

I know the set up isn’t perfect. In fact there is much I would change when there are no eggs to worry about.

My temp cut off probe is right at the height of the eggs tops to try and prevent over heating but sadly I think it might have been to late for the eggs pictured.

I will look into the incukit. I do have two new eggs that just got put in two days ago so I am not sure if they are good or not. I will candle them on Tuesday to see what is going on with them, hopefully they have made it where the others didn't.
