Went out to visit the ladies this afternoon and found the first two eggs. Right on schedule, they turned 20 weeks about a week ago.
I’m pretty sure these are the barred rock. She looked ready about 2 weeks ago. I set up the nest boxes at 20 weeks and they all went in and out and did some customization but these were just out in the sand in their run! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m hoping they get bigger and they start using the nests! I may just cook these up with the shells and give them back to the girls. There’s a tiny peck mark in one of them.

Congrats!
It will very likely take them some time to get used to laying in the nest boxes, and even laying at all. There is a good chance that they will start laying in the boxes on their own, but you can get some ceramic or wooden eggs to place in the boxes to help them figure it out. The peck mark was probably just the chicken trying to figure out what in the world just came out of her! 😂
