I have a barred rock, and some buff orpingtons.. and maybe some new hampshire hens. The barred rock is 20 weeks old, the rest are at least 4 weeks behind I think.. Is it possible that I have more than one laying? The single picture is the first egg, which I'm 100% sure is the barred rock. We went a day without eggs, then the first two clockwise from the white egg were found yesterday, with the one on left of the white one being one I found today... Is it possible these are all from the same chicken??? Thanks!!!

My BR's lay a cream colored egg, similar to bottom pic and furthest to the right in multi egg pic. . My BO's lay an egg colored like the top egg in the mulit -egg picture. (to the left of the lightest colored egg). Hope this helps.

I would say going by that pic you have 4 hens laying, I am able to tell all but 2 of my hens eggs apart. Once a hen starts laying as far as I know the only thing that changes is the size, they start out small then get bigger as the hen matures. :)

Craziness... I should add the white one in the top picture is a store bought for size comparison... The bottom one was in low light.. I wish I had saved it, but I ate it for breakfast.. lol. Is it normal for them to lay every other day for a while?

Thanks!!

Yep, I'd say either 3 or 4 hens laying- hard to tell from the photo.

I can tell all our hen's eggs apart except for two hens that are full sisters from the same clutch. The eggs are identical, though the chickens aren't identical in color.

It can take a while for them to settle in to the number of eggs they are going to lay a week, I only have one hen that lays everyday and that's because she is a production breed bred to do that, the rest give me about 5 each a week.
Given that the white one in the top pic is a bought one then I am sticking with 4 hens laying.

Thanks everyone... I caught another hen laying an egg this morning!!! She was naughty though, and laid it outside of her nest box.. lol.. I guess I need to leave that golf ball in there a little longer :)
