I have a few quails, two females and one male. First ever quails, I'm raising them sorta as pets but kinda for their eggs too. They're sooo cute and today we got our first eggs from the ladies!! The eggs look gorgeous and I am so proud of mah little quailies. Just wanted to share the awesome experience and some photography of the eggs!! Thank you!

The first one was really adorable! Earlier today, one of my quails, the male
(( Albert )) came inside my house through the dog flap, came into my bedroom, and jumped up onto the bed. There was a bit of poo on the sheets after that, but I cleaned it up and didn't mind too much. I woke up to find him there and let him back outside. But as soon as I put him back in the cage, I saw a beautiful egg sitting idly on the steps that lead to the yard with one of the females (( Anne )) standing next to it (( well, like a couple of feet away from it but anyways... )) Its almost like Albert came inside to tell me about it!! Awww!! Quails are so cute I love owning them!!

The next egg, (( just now )) I found hidden in the grass next to the fence when I was watering the plants!! The other female (( Victoria )) was no where to be seen around it, but I can assume that egg was hers since I already got one today and also it was another colour/ pattern! I love my quails!!

enjoy them, maybe hatch out some more, I have had coturnix and bobwhites. I now keep only bob whites, and have had huge success in hatching both. Bobs mature slower but live longer, and I love the songs. If you are free ranging, or have an uncovered run, best watch them closely, coons, and hawks love them. I'm surprised they aren't going through your yard fencing.

congratulations are you planning to incubate some eventually?i'm assuming there coturnix quail?

Yep, Coturnix! I will also eventually be incubating the eggs but since these are the first ones they won't be fertile and the male isn't crowing so I'm 99.9% sure I'll just eat these ones for now.

Congrats I love my little monsters I have 5 Italian colouring coturnix quails 4 girls and 1 boy :) ! X I did have 6 girls but unfortunately after we hit spring the boy started crowing and brought attention to them from neighbours cats ( they had been outside for 5 months with no probs ) and 2 of my girls got killed so after some run reinforcements they have all been fine since ! X very cool that they use the dog flap btw :celebrate

They free range and are not eaten by predators or wander away? How long has this been working? You are either SUPER lucky, or.....I don't know.
