First Eggs!

Hello everyone!
I've been lurking on the website for quite some time (seems to be everyone's story, huh?) but I finally decided to join today because...MY CHICKENS LAID THEIR FIRST EGGS!
I was so happy and I knew from reading the posts on here that you all would be happy with me.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

- These are my very first chickens! I wanted some for several years but this year was the first time I felt like I could provide proper care for them.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

- I have 6.

(3) What breeds do you have?

- 3 Rhode Island Red and 3 Golden Comet

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

- It was a mix of wanting to have farm eggs and just loving having animals around.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

- Gardening and painting.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

- I have 4 small dogs that get into huge messes and maybe a plan to one day get a goat.

Nothing like that first egg, is there? I know! We've been buying, cooking and eating eggs our whole lives like it's no big deal, and yet, when you find that first egg in your own nest and know that it came from your own pullet that you raised from a chick - oh, it's just breath-taking! It's like some prize jewel you hardly want to touch, it's so precious! You just want to like you have accomplished something great! Oh, we get it, all right! Enjoy your victory!
