First eggs

I have read somewhere on this site that the combs and wattles on hens turn red just before egg laying. I have one BA hen who is starting to turn bright pink. Will the comb and wattles turn a bright red as the roo. I guess I am hoping for fresh eggs. My chickens are 16 weeks now. John

All my good laying hens head ornaments are a deep deep rose color.just a red as my roos. seems a hens ornaments turn pinkish when not laying.

Im guessing its a hormonal blood rush to the head that causes the deep red when they are laying.and when the hormones lay off not so much. im no big wig sientest,but just as good with southern common sense.

My sex-links' comb and wattles were still pink when they started laying, but soon turned red. But you know how sex-links are, egg-laying over achievers!
