Hey everyone!
This is our family's introduction. My husband is a true farm boy. So I have been raising animals since marrying him. Now our kids are involved too. We live in Michigan now, and in an urban area, so have some of the more common breeds for our area at least (and are only supposed to have hens).

Currently we have orpingtons, wyandottes, astrolorpes, Brahmas, barred rock, maran, jersey giant, isa brown, and polish (for fun). We are down to one bantam, they haven't worked well in our area with all the predators etc (hawks, mink, racoons, cayote). We have also raised Holland lop rabbits, turkeys, and dogs here.

I have used backyard chickens for years, but never was brave enough to post- and also didn't want to get to jugement. We are getting in trouble in our urban area (we've tried to move and can't afford to) so struggle when we get sold "oops babies" when we pick up hens. So I posted a free rooster. The people we know that could take them on have one from this happening a few years ago and can't take any more. We also cant do turkeys anymore so we have one old lady left we are in the process of moving out. Trying to live a more natural sustainable life, without access to country living is hard, but worth it for us.
