Came home from work to find these in the coop.

I've been off the last couple days, and the girls have been free-ranging from dawn til dusk. I think the real first eggs might have been laid in the woods....I heard some commotion, but couldn't find anything chasing them...it could have been the "egg song". They were locked in today, and this is what I found when I got home. I am guessing they're from my red sex-links.

Lucky! One of my girls laid her first egg two days ago, and since then, NOTHING. Sigh...such teases. Guess I shouldn't be TOO hard on them...it has been WICKED hot here in TN, and they are only going on 5 months old (all large varieties). Look on the bright side...ya got two! (Enough to make a decent meal w/toast.

Congrats. When I got my first egg (or, found my first egg) we were just moving. I got out of the truck and went to check on them, and there was a little tiny eggs in with them . Then we went back to the other house to get some more stuff and there was one other eggs in there.

Pullet egg today! Approaching 6 months. I thought one of my Buff's would be the first to lay because she seems so much more mature than the others. However, one of the Reds has suddenly started bullying the others like she's trying to be dominant. So, I don't know which one is the first.
