First eggs!!!

After 5 months of waiting and caring for these dumb animals (sorry if I offend but chickens is DUMB :) the wife found our first eggs! But holy crap the chickens are LOUD now. They have been so quite up till now. I'm worried that we may not be able to keep them as the neighbors may complain. Oh well. Who would have thought that a couple of eggs could be so exciting. LOL. Thanks backyardchickens.com and community for all of your help and suggestions!
 
Beautiful! They (and your hand) look wet. I personally recommend not washing them if there isn't poop on them. There is a protective layer over the shell called the cuticle or "bloom" that helps keep bacteria out. If you wash the egg, it won't stay good as long because it will become more permeable to bacteria.
