Just wait till you hatch chickens.. I am currently sitting next to my newly hatched ones, waiting for anymore to pop out of their eggs, so I can put them under a lamp.

    Talk about being excited.

[IMG] :) My 5 year old grandson wants them to be baby chicks. Do I just leave the eggs there and they will incubate them?

I personally don't trust my silkie to sit there, but mine is a bit dumb. I have an incubator. They are quite pricey brand new, but if you can pick up a second hand one, they are fairly good.

You also have to have a rooster, that is active, and they have to be fertilised eggs.

I would wait a little while before you try and hatch any if your hens have only just started laying, as I highly doubt they are fertilised (though I am not an expert on this topic)
