My Buff Brahma laid her first egg today, not sure when she did it because I didnt check the coop at all yesterday, decided to check it this morning and found a little brown small egg.

When I picked it up, its really solid. I tried shaking the egg and it feels like its boiled. I couldnt even feel the inside of the egg moving around; unlike a regular egg you buy at your local store. Are all eggs solid as soon as they come out?

I live in Nor Cal, its been raining like crazy the pasts couple of weeks. The temperature has been around under 40 degrees.

Congratulations !! It’s the best feeling ever when you find eggs every morning.. I’m a believer in Christ and pray over my land and my birds every mornings; thanking God for blessing me. I have 18 birds and 1 rooster. Here is what I find almost every morning

that is super cool, i am barely incubating my first birds. I'm so excited for this day, seems so far away.:pop

Thanks for everyone’s input, I thought the egg has gone bad or something.

You will be surprised if this is your first fresh egg ever.
They stand tall in the pan and don't run all over like the sad store eggs. The yolk will be a nice dark yellow or even orange. The flavor is amazing in those dark yolks.

One thing I will let you know......
With chicken eggs there can be a meat spot or blood spot in them from time to time. I always crack eggs in a separate dish just in case.
